Women’s Basketball Head Coach, Laura Beeman, has accepted a position as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Sparks Professional Women’s Basketball Team.  Beeman who recently lead the Mounties (37-1 record) to their third consecutive California State Community College Championship will remain at Mt. After capturing the 2008 State Championship on Sunday afternoon, three Mounties were named to the 2008 All State Tournament team; Tournament MVP #22 Jazlyn Davis, 21-54 (.388) from the field, 27-32 (.843) from the line and a average of 24.0 points per game, with a new school record of 44 points in the semi-final game against Fresno City College; #25 Carmen Deal, 20-39 (.512) from the field, 41 rebounds over 3 games (13.7 per/g) and 7 block shots;
#21 Blaire Egardo, 11-24 (.458) from 3pt and 13-33 (.393) from the field.

red buttonWomen's Basketball Captures Third Consecutive Title; Fourth In Last Five Years

Mt. SAC (37-1) captured its third consecutive state championship, and fourth in the past five seasons, by defeating Foothill, 65-57, in the championship game of the California State Championship tournament at University of the Pacific in Stockton. The Mounties trailed at halftime, 30-22, but staged a second-half comeback that helped them capture the state title. Zequoia Williams led Mt. SAC with 16 points. Carmen Deal added 13 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for the Mounties while teammate Blaire Egardo scored 12. Mt. SAC won the state title in 2004, 2006, and 2007. Mt. SAC opened the 2007-08 season with a loss to Orange Coast, 63-57, in the opening round of the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 9, 2007. Since then, the Mounties pieced together a 37-game win streak that culiminated with today's state title. Congratulations to head coach Laura Beeman and her team for an incredible season.
