arrowWomen's Basketball Head Coach Laura Beeman Accepts Position With USC.
Long Time Assistant Coach Brian Crichlow To Lead Mountie Women's Team.

June 7, 2010
Women's Basketball Head Coach Laura Beeman will be moving on to greater challenges with the USC Trojan Women's Basketball Program. She has accepted a position as the top assistant to Head Coach Michael Cooper and will resign from her teaching and coaching positions at Mt. SAC after 15 seasons, developing one of the nation's most powerful women's basketball programs. Beeman previously served as an assistant coach for Cooper, with the Los Angeles Sparks pro women's basketball team during the 2008 WNBA Season.

During her tenure at Mt. SAC, Beeman captured four state championships, including three consecutive titles, 2006-08. She was named "Conference Coach of the Year" four times and led the Mounties to the state championship playoffs 10 times.

"The 15 years at Mt. SAC have been the best times in my life!" says Beeman. "I want to thank the Mt. SAC Family for the support, love and opportunity they have given me. To leave Mt. SAC is by far one of the most difficult decisions I have made in my life."

Long time Assistant Coach Brian Crichlow has been named to take over the Mounties.

"I have no doubt that Brian Crichlow will pick up where we left off," Beeman states. The eleven years Beeman and Crichlow worked together have been the most fruitful in the team's history with four state championships and the production of numerous outstanding players, including All-Americans Lauren Ervin, Jazlyn Davis and Anatero Uiagalelei.

"We will truly miss Laura. She's done so much for the college and its student athletes," says retiring Athletic Director Deb Blackmore. "There is no one more deserving to replace Laura, than Brian, and Mt. SAC looks forward to what the future holds for him."
