Lenny Rodriguez begins his third season back (13th year total) as the Mounties Defensive Coordinator after serving as defensive line and linebackers coach at the University of New Mexico for 9 years.

Since his return, the Mounties have returned back to defensive dominance, which has lead the team to 2 consecutive State Championship appearances and 2 Southern California Football Championships. 

During his previous 10 years at Mt. SAC, Rodriguez served in various capacities, including outside linebackers coach, safeties and inside linebackers coach, and defensive coordinator.

During his five years as defensive coordinator, Mt. SAC captured the 1997 community college national championship (top 5 national defensive ranking), appeared in the Sports Headquarters' Southern California Bowl (1993) and the Simple Green Orange County Classic (1995).

During his illustrious coaching career, Rodriguez was instrumental in developing the talents of many future NFL Superstars including Quincy Black (New Mexico, Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Antonio Pierce (Mt. SAC, Arizona, N.Y. Giants), Chris McAlister (Mt. SAC, Arizona, Baltimore Ravens) and Brian Urlacher (New Mexico, Chicago Bears),

Rodriguez's played two years of football for the Mounties (1974-75), before finishing his collegiate career at the University of San Diego (1976-77), where he was a two-year starter.  He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Ashford University (Iowa).

Rodriguez is married to the former Phyllis Romero, his lovely wife since 1997.
