Criss Freeman begins his first year as the Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach after having been as assistant coach at Mt. SAC for the past 10 years.  While coaching at Mt. SAC, his teams have won two South Coast Conference League Championships and have qualified for the playoffs nine out of ten years.

Coach Freeman’s previous coaching experience includes being the assistant coach for 1 year and the head coach for 1 year at Costa Mesa High School where he worked under and with fellow Mt. SAC alumni Jason Ferguson.

Coach Freeman’s many accomplishments and accolades include coordinating many basketball camps and clinics for players at various skill levels.  Coach Freeman was the camp coordinator for the Triple Threat Basketball Camps held at Mt. SAC for five years.  He was also an assistant coach for the Fila Summer Pro League for two years.  He has also worked with the Frontline Sports Management team for two years.

Coach Freeman’s hobbies include reading in any spare time he can find.  He enjoys focusing on fitness and working out, golfing on the weekends and we he travels.  He also enjoys watching boxing, tennis, track and field, football and baseball as well as playing cards, dominoes and board games.  In addition, Criss has volunteered at various community centers such as YMCA, Cypress Warrior Center, and The Boys and Girls Club.

Coach Freeman graduated from Baldwin Park High School and attended Mt. San Antonio college for 2 years before transferring to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he played basketball.  He has taken various extended learning courses through Long Beach City College and the University of Ohio.  Coach Freeman currently resides in Claremont.
